It offers the lowest possible latency, complete. ![]() JACK is focused on the needs of pro-audio and music creation users. It doesn’t try to address low latency usage, but does provide seamless device switching, network routing, global per-application volume control and lots more great stuff. The Blog is confusing as it did give the wrong impression that PulseAudio was something shiney and new, when in fact it is just software which makes it *easier* to configure sound input / output devices. PulseAudio is focused on desktop and mobile audio needs. Prior to the recent update ALSA tools (alsactl, amixer, arecord/aplay and alsamixer) were used with the exception that since Raspbian Stretch BlueAlsa was used as the Bluetooth Sound Server.
